Replacement of Slated Roof to Hampstead Property

Large domestic property in Hampstead, North London

Project: The original slate covering was approaching the end of its life and the box gutters also required replacement.

The client wanted to coordinate the roofing works with planned external redecoration to make best use of the scaffolding that was required for all trades on site.

The entire roof was stripped of the original coverings and the coping stones removed from the roof parapet walls. The box gutters were recovered using torch-on polyester membranes and the sloping areas prepared and recovered using new vapour-permeable underfelt and preservative-treated slate battens.

New Spanish quarried slates were selected by the client and fitted together with new matching ridge tiles. The chimney stacks were overhauled and lead flashings fitted before the new coping stones completed the roof refurbishment.
